A compact dining table that makes its edge the focus. A triple beaded detail wraps around the edge, creating deep shadows and a very tactile profile. Reminiscent of metal edged Formica topped tables from the 1950’s and yet uniquely timeless, this table nods to history while remaining minimal.

The edge was made by first making the tool to cut it, a scratch stock. This simple, centuries old tool has a profiled tool steel cutter and a handle to scrape it against the wood’s edge. By repeatedly running the scratch stock against the edge, the cutter digs in deeper until the full profile is cut. Atypical profiles can be created this way since the tool is entirely handmade.
