Dodeca Light
2014
A dodecahedron is the geometric basis for the Dodeca Light, a shape which is made up of 12 identical faces of pentagrams. The dodecahedron is a fascinating form since it completely changes its appearance depending on the viewing angle, so as you walk around it, it looks more like an asymmetrical ball or hexagon. This effect is also enhanced by the LED's which give the impression of a constellation of stars. Precisely machined brass components are fabricated with the specific angles needed to assemble the fixture and also to incorporate the LED's. The shape allows for easy scalability; by changing the length of the brass tubes, a larger dodecahedron can be made up to 60" in diameter.
